Welcome to Viridian at Kingston

The Viridian Apartment complex is one of the major developments in the Kingston Foreshore precinct of Canberra. Viridian is a mix of residential apartments and commercial premises -173 units in all. Located on Wentworth Ave, Viridian is 6.5 km from Civic Centre and 7 km from the airport. In addition to route buses, the Red Rapid 200 Bus links Viridian with the city every 15 minutes.

Viridian at Kingston - UP2839Viridian is in the very heart of Kingston; just a short walk to the cafés and restaurants as well as supermarket, chemist, post office, bank and specialty shops. Even closer is the soon to be completed Kingston Foreshore precinct with its boat harbour, boardwalk, restaurants and cafés. Right on the doorstep is delightful Norgrove Park that ensures a green space to the north that will never be built out.

Viridian was designed by Rodney Moss of architect firm Cox Humphries Moss. Rodney incorporated a number of glass panels that were created by Australian/Japanese artist Keiko Amenomori-Schmeisser, formerly lecturer in textiles and print making at the School of Art, ANU. The panels reflect aspects of the industrial history of the site and are representative of the Australian Government Printing Office (hence Printers Way) and the Railway precinct.

Rodney Moss’ design incorporates a landscaped courtyard with grassed areas, deciduous shade trees, mass plantings and two cooling fern gardens. Native plants complement exotics and birds including wrens and parrots now nest in the courtyard. There is even a community herb garden run by residents.

Viridian is pet friendly and environmentally conscious. Residents have decided to promote clothes drying on racks in courtyards and on decks to reduce energy consumption. Energy saving lighting will soon replace traditional fluorescent lights.

The Owners Corporation has solid financial reserves and an energetic Executive Committee ensures that funds are spent appropriately. Viridian Views is published quarterly and keeps residents up-to-date on issues as they arise.
